I've been involved in ELT management for over 18 years, after working as an English teacher for 15 years in a number of different countries. While based in the US I was an educational project manager for a number of large scale ELT projects worldwide with the World Learning SIT Graduate Institute, and for the last 14 years I've worked as an ELT management consultant and trainer. I was one of the co-creators of the IDLTM syllabus, and have been organising and training on IDLTM courses ever since - in the USA, Brazil, Spain, Australia, Vietnam, Oman, Turkey and China. I am a co-author of From Teacher to Manager: Managing Language Teaching Organisations (CUP 2008), Managing Education in the Digital Age: Choosing, Setting up and Running successful online courses (The Round 2014), 'Educational Management (Polirom 2007), and co-author of 'Leading Technological Change' (CUP 2022). I am the coordinator of the Leadership and Management Special Interest Group of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).

Of the 28 years spent working at the University of Queensland, 20 were as a TESOL Director of Studies in the Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE). One of my responsibilities was for the IDLTM program in which I have been involved since its inception: as a member of the curriculum development team, coordinator for all Brisbane based courses, and as a trainer (I also graduated from the IDLTM course myself in 2003!).

I completed a DipTEFL at London University and an MA in Applied Linguistics at the University of Birmingham (UK), and have carried out a variety of teaching, training, management and TESOL related work in various countries (from Nigeria to North Korea, Malaysia to Myanmar), including presentations at international conferences.  I have taught on UQ's MA Applied Linguistics program, and in 2014 was the recipient of the English Australia/IELTS award for Academic Leadership.
